"King Ludwig's Fairy Tale Castle"
A trip back in time in the Bavarian Alps
What exactly makes Neuschwanstein such a unique place? Why do tourists from all over the globe rank it up there with the pyramids in Egypt, the Eiffel Tower, or the Statue Of Liberty in New York? In this German national TV-documentary, light is shed on the myth of Castle Neuschwanstein.
Neuschwanstein is only a part of the romantic oeuvre conceived of, created, and lived by the "Fairy Tale King" Ludwig II. To this day, Ludwig II is admired as a man who lived his dreams until the end, and end that today is as mysterious as ever. Seven weeks after his death (Murder? Suicide?) in Bavaria's largest lake, the castle was opened to the public. Today, 3.000 tourists from all over the world visit Neuschwanstein daily.
