About the film
Grace Phillips ist als Sergeant der US-Army im Irak stationiert. Ihr Mann Stan (John Cusack) kümmert sich um die Familie und lebt mit den beiden Töchtern Heidi (Shélan O'Keefe) und Dawn (Gracie Bednarczyk) in Minnesota. Als Stan eines Tages die Nachricht von Graces Tod überbracht wird, bringt er es nicht übers Herz den Mädchen die Wahrheit zu sagen. Statt dessen unternimmt er mit ihnen eine Reise quer durch die Vereinigten Staaten. Während sich die Kinder im Freizeitpark "Enchanted Gardens" vergnügen, sucht Stan nach einem Weg, seinen Töchtern die Nachricht vom Tod ihrer Mutter beizubringen.
