About the film
Nach dem erfolgreichen Umsturz in Kuba verschwindet Che (Benicio Del Toro) scheinbar spurlos. Ein Jahr später reist er unerkannt nach Bolivien ein, wo er die Revolution weiterführen möchte. Mit der Unterstützung ausländischer Sympathisanten wie Tanja (Franka Potente) und dem Schriftsteller Regis Debray (Marc-André Grondin) nimmt er den Kampf gegen Präsident Barrientos (Joaquim de Almeida) und seine Truppen auf. Doch in der Bevölkerung ist der Rückhalt gering, auch auf die Hilfe der Kommunistischen Partei unter Mario Monje (Lou Diamond Phillips) kann Che nicht zählen. Während die Moral immer weiter sinkt, geraten die Guerillas in einen Hinterhalt.
