ersten beiden Boxen einen Nerv getroffen zu haben. Frei nach dem Sinnspruch „More is
more and less is a bore“ folgen nun 20 weitere musikalisch spannende Alben mit
großartigen Solisten wie Sonny Clark, Kenny Drew und Sonny Red und von einigen Stars
wie Jimmy Smith und Bud Powell gibt es rare Meisterwerke aus ihren Anfangsjahren. Die
Trompeter Howard McGhee, Thad Jones, Art Farmer, Clifford Brown, Donald Byrd, Lee
Morgan und Kenny Dorham zeigen wie aufregend man sich neben Dizzy Gillespie und
Miles Davis profilieren konnte. Das gilt selbstverständlich auch für die Saxofonisten J. R.
Monterose, Hank Mobley, Lou Donaldson, Jimmy Heath, Clifford Jordan, Brew Moore und
Jackie McLean. Neben dem Initiator des Hammond Organ Booms der späten Fünfziger,
Jimmy Smith, präsentieren wir Freddie Roach und Baby Face Willet als Young Disciples.
