Eigentlich ist dies ein Andre Previn - Album.- Wobei Shelly und Leroy keinesfalls in ihrer musikalischen Hochleistung geschmälert werden sollen. Aber Andre (damals bei Decca, also "Gast") spielt, besser verjazzt, die 8 Stücke aus dem Musical derart gut und ansprechend, dass man sie immer wieder gerne hört.- Da ist eine gefühlvolle, himmlisch-schöne Einleitung zu On The Street....., ein blues-gospel-swinger Wouldn't It Be Loverly und eine rassante Ascot Gavotte (das einzige vielleicht weniger bekannte Stück) oder ...Bit of Luck als romantische Ballade. Jedes Stück ist auf besondere Weise von Könnern und Kennern interpretiert und man hört immer wieder mal "neue" Kicks.
Zu Japan-Produktionen ist aus jahrzehntelanger Erfahrung zu sagen, dass (mich) die noch nie (!) enttäuscht haben, weder in technischer noch in klanglicher Hinsicht, zu letzterer wird stets das Bestmögliche aus den Quellen "herausgeholt".
Kurz vor dieser, einer der ersten Stereoaufnahmen, spielten die 3 Musiker noch in mono ein tolles Jazz-Album ein,- jpc-Nr.1900761- und wenige Jahre später Previn nochmals My Fair Lady, jedoch "ganz anders" :
