Es gibt Rockklassiker wie zum Beispiel »Highway To Hell« von AC/DC oder »Hotel California« von den Eagles, die hat man - zumindest als durchschnittlich an Rockmusik interessierter Mensch - schon so oft gehört, dass sie förmlich in Fleisch und Blut übergegangen sind. Braucht es da noch eine Kompilation mit Coversongs?
Ja! Zumindest wenn es sich um so genrefremde Updates wie bei der Zusammenstellung »Rock In Jazz« handelt. Was hier zum Beispiel Jamie Cullum aus »The Wind Cries Mary« (Jimi Hendrix), Nostalgia 77 feat. Alice Russell aus »Seven Nation Army« (White Stripes), Señor Coconut aus »Smoke On The Water« (Deep Purple) oder Marlene Schaff aus »Wonderwall« (Oasis) zaubern, klingt trotz aller Vertrautheit absolut eigenständig.
So machen auch 1000 Mal gehörte Lieder wie die eingangs genannten oder sogar das völlig durchgenudelte »(I Can't Get No) Satisfaction« der Rolling Stones wieder richtig Spaß.
