Peterson nahm sowohl als Begleiter für viele andere Stars auf, als auch als Leader des Trios, welches 1959 außer ihm aus Ray Brown am Bass und Ed Thigpen am Schlagzeug bestand. Genau dies ist die Formation des Oscar Peterson Trios, die auf dieser Hommage an Richard Rodgers (1902-1979) zu hören ist. Diese Aufnahmen entstanden während intensiven Sessions bei denen Peterson und seine Band viele verschiedene Songbooks von den bekanntesten amerikanischen Komponisten interpretierten.
