Mammal Hands sind ein Trio gleichgesinnter Musiker: Nick Smart – Keyborads, Jesse Barrett – Drums & Tablas, Jordann Smart – Saxophone.
Ihr Sound beruht auf Einflüssen von Steve Reich zu Bonobo und von Pharoah Sanders zu Cinematic Orchestra, neben Elementen der nordindischen und afrikanischen Musik. Sie produzieren ihre eigene schöne, unnachahmliche Musik – manchmal wehmütig und melancholisch und manchmal lärmende und eingängig. Sie erzeugen eine Reihe von Stimmungen, von zarten und subtilen zu explosiven und hektischen, und mischen nachdenkliche Kompositionen mit Spontaneität und Zusammenspiel.
