Lonnie Liston Smith hat sich als Sideman mit legendären Bandleadern wie Art Blakey, Pharoah Sanders und Miles Davis einen Namen gemacht. Er erschien zum ersten Mal auf einer Flying Dutchman-LP, als er Piano auf dem Leon Thomas-Album »Spirits Known And Unknown« spielte, das 1969 veröffentlicht wurde. »Live!« wurde im Mai 1977 im Smuckers Cabaret Club in Brooklyn aufgenommen und beinhaltet neben einem schnellen Streifzug durch »Expansions« über »Visions Of A New World« aus der gleichnamigen LP von 1975. Das atmosphärische »Prelude« klingt nach einem Vorläufer von Vangelis' Soundtrack für den bahnbrechenden Science-Fiction-Film »Blade Runner«. Es war Smiths letztes Album für Flying Dutchman und ein perfekter Abschied.
