Kay Kyser war ein Bandleader, Jazzmusiker und eine Radiopersönlichkeit, die sehr beliebt war und von Mitte der 30er Jahre bis Anfang der 50er Jahre ein hohes Ansehen genoss.
Kay Kyser war ein US-amerikanischer Big-Band-Leader, Sänger und Entertainer des Swing. Mit seinen Nummern kam er öfter ins Radio und war mit »Kay Kyser's Kollege of Musical Knowledge« bei Mutual Radio 1938 und danach von 1939 bis 1949 bei NBC Radio sehr erfolgreich. Landesweit hatten sie wöchentlich an die 20 Millionen Hörer, die für eingesandte Quizfragen eine Auszeichnung erhielten. Kyser trat dort als »The Ol Professor« in Talar auf. Insgesamt hatte er elf Nummer-eins-Hits (u. a. »Three Little Fishes« 1939). In den 1940er Jahren gelangen ihm mit den Titeln »Jingle, Jangle, Jingle« (1942), »Ole Buttermilk Sky« (1946) und »The Woody Woodpecker Song« (1948) drei Nummer-eins-Hits.
