Lange bevor John Williams (damals bekannt als Johnny) die Filmmusiken einiger der berühmtesten Filme komponierte und dirigierte, war er ein hochbegabter und sehr gefragter Session-Pianist in der Entertainment Szene Hollywoods der 50er Jahre.
1961 arrangierte er modernste Bläser-Arrangements aus ausgewählten Standards, die alle Bestandteil seines Albums »Rhythm in Motion« wurden.
