Pianist Anat Fort, Bassist Gary Wong und Robert Schneider an den Drums formten im Jahr 1999 ihr gemeinsames Trio. Was folgte, waren zahlreiche Alben für ECM und Sunnyside Records. Dabei wurden sie unsanft von der Corona Pandemie ausgebremst und voneinander in ihre Heimatländer Israel, Los Angeles und Deutschland getrennt. Auf Einladung der BMW-Welt Jazz Awards 2022 vereinte sich das Trio erneut, was die Musiker als Gelegenheit für eine neues gemeinsames nahmen. Entstanden ist das Album in Berlin
nach stundenlangem gemeinsamem Musizieren, zunächst völlig frei, dann mit Werken aus ihrem umfangreichen Repertoire. Mit "The Berlin Sessions" feiern sie ihre Wiedervereinigung und gehen dabei neue musikalische Wege, die sie vor der Trennung noch nicht für sich entdeckt hatten.
