ART TAYLOR sadly died in January 1995. The legendary drummer of the ‘Be-Bop’ era, between 1952 and 1960, he recorded around 200 albums accompanying the greatest musicians around, from Charlie Parker to Herbie Hancock, not to mention Dexter Gordon, Jackie McLean, Donald Byrd, Miles Davis, Sonny Stitt, Bud Powell, Thelonious Monk, Johnny Griffin and John Coltrane who he recorded the famous « Giant Steps » with.
After a long absence from the Jazz scene, in 1988 Art was invited by Steve GROSSMAN to play on several European tours and to record two albums, « DO IT » accompanied by Barry Harris in 1991 and « IN NEW YORK » with McCoy Tyner in 1992 (Dreyfus jazz).
To pay tribute to the great man himself, Steve GROSSMAN has decided to release this previously unreleased concert recorded back in 1989 in Genova after a long tour which thrived on close harmony and the ultimate in musical entertainment.
