In 1969, at the age of 18 only, Steve Grossman joins the electric band of Miles Davis !
He continues his musical experience with Chick Corea, Elvin Jones, confirming his style and tone. All over the years and his albums, anyone can appreciate this tenor sax with his huge, warm and generous sound, alternately smooth and with a rough expressiveness.
In 1992, at the top of his art, Steve Grossman goes in studio with a amazing quartet (Jimmy Cobb- drums, Harold Land – tenor sax) to record an album never released up to now. Seven fantastic titles. Two covers of Monk and a disguised tribute to his mentor, Miles Davis with « Vierd Blues ».
Without any doubt, Steve Grossman is one of the best tenor saxophonist, and this record is the perfect proof of it.
When speaking about him, Michel Petrucciani was saying : « When I am listening to Steve Grossman, I can see a newsvendor in New York streets, shouting the last news, or a tumbler announcing the arrival in town of a circus.
