Bernard Stollman, Gründer von ESP, lud Ronnie Boykins 1964 (nachdem er ihn beim Sun Ra Arkestra erlebt hatte) zu einer Aufnahme ein. Doch erst 1975 war es dann tatsächlich so weit, und die Band bestand fast durchweg aus erfahrenen und damals bekannten Musikern. Die Besetzung ohne Harmonieinstrument, aber mit fünf Bläsern, kreiert einen ungewöhnlichen Sound. Wenige Jahre danach verstarb Boykins, es blieb sein einziges eigenes Album.
