Mit der der Veröffentlichung der neuen CD «European Chamber Ensemble»
legt der Schlagzeuger und Komponist Pierre Favre nach «Singing Drums» (Intakt CD 049)
neue Kompositionen vor. Dafür erweitert der «Poet des Schlagzeugs» sein Quartett «Singing Drums»
um Gitarre, Viola, Geige und Bass zum Oktett. Pierre Favre entfaltet seine Kompositionen
in kontrastreichen Klangräumen seines reichhaltigen Perkussionsarsenals
und eines fragilen Streichtrios und bietet den Solisten Roberto Ottaviano (Sopransaxofon)
und Michel Godard (Tuba / Serpent) Möglichkeiten für phantastische Exkursionen.
Einige Themen verbreiten einen Hauch von Melancholie, andere Stücke sind tänzerisch,
der Rhythmus folgt in komplexen Linien der Melodie.

sagt Pierre Favre in den Liner Notes. «Man weint im Lachen, und man lacht im Weinen.»
With the release of the new CD European Chamber Ensemble, the drummer and composer Pierre Favre presents new compositions after his last release, Singing Drums (Intakt CD 049).For this release, this «poet of the drums» has extended his quartet «Singing Drums» to an octetwith a guitar, viola, violin and bass. Pierre Favre unfolds his compositions into tonal spaces, rich in contrast, using his percussion arsenal and a fragile string trio. He thus offers the soloists Roberto Ottaviano (soprano saxophone) and Michel Godard (tuba / serpent) many possibilities for their fantastic excursions. Several of the themes give off a breath of melancholy, others are dance-like, where the rhythm follows the melody in complex lines. «Cheerfulness and sadness weave together like in real life,» says Pierre Favre in the liner notes. «One cries in laughter and one laughs in tears.»
