These rare recordings made at Birdland in New York City on three consecutive Monday nights in the winter of 1951 capture some of the finest ever freewheeling playing of the iconicsaxophonist . The superb rhythm section comprising pianist John Lewis, bassist Gene Ramey and the incomparable Jo Jones on drums was just perfect for Prez . Their consumate professionalism makes this marriage "made in heaven" just too marvellous for words !
