Puppet Mischief ist John Ellis’ (Saxophonist) zweites Album mit seiner Band Double-Wide (u. a. ist der jüngste Bruder von Branford & Wynton Marsalis hier am Schlagzeug) und sein 6. als Bandleader, Komponist und Produzent in einer Person.
Musikalisch geht’s hier mit dem sehr tight eingespielten Jazz-Trio auf eine Reise “back-to-New Orleans-Roots” und dem dazugehörigen Brass-Band-Sound.
Im Kern besteht Double-Wide aus Drummer Jason Marsalis (der jüngste Bruder von Branford & Wynton Marsalis), Matt Perrine (Sousaphone) und Brian Coogan (Organ).
Als Unterstützung kamen noch Gregoire Maret (Harmonica) und Alan Ferber (Trombone) dazu.
