1945, zum Ende des 2. Weltkriegs, wurden mit den ‘treasury shows’ Gelder gesammelt für den durch den Krieg gebeutelten Haushalt. Verbunden waren sie mit Live-Aufzeichnungen von Konzerten Duke Ellingtons. Die Sendungen dieser Doppel-CD datieren vom 13. und 20. Oktober 1945. Die Shows waren für Ellington´s Orchestra eine Gelegenheit, neue Stücke oder Arrangements zu testen und verschiedene Sänger/-innen einzusetzen. Erstaunlich gute Klangqualität angesichts des Alters.
