The Girl In The Other Room ist das siebte Studioalbum der kanadischen Sängerin Diana Krall, das am 31. März 2004 bei Verve Records veröffentlicht wurde. Neben Coverversionen ist es das erste Album von Krall, das Originalmaterial enthält, das sie zusammen mit ihrem Ehemann Elvis Costello geschrieben hat.
Auf der Website von Verve Records erklärt Krall das Songwriting für das Album ausführlicher: "Ich habe die Musik geschrieben und dann haben Elvis und ich darüber gesprochen, was wir sagen wollten. Ich erzählte ihm Geschichten und schrieb Seiten um Seiten von Erinnerungen, Beschreibungen und Bildern, und er brachte sie in eine straffere lyrische Form. Für 'Departure Bay' schrieb ich eine Liste von Dingen auf, die ich an meiner Heimat liebe, Dinge, die mir klar wurden, dass sie anders, sogar exotisch waren, jetzt, da ich weg war."
