The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Auf dem Cover der Orignal LP aus dem Jahr 1961 befinden sich nicht weniger als 20 Ausrufezeichen und Blakey wollte mit diesem Album auf den neuen Sound des Jazz aufmerksam machen, den er mit seiner jungen Truppe in die Clubs der 60er Jahre brachte. Die Aufnahmen aus dem Juni 1961 sind perfekt bis zur kleinsten Note und haben dennoch ein absolutes Live-Feeling und zeigen packende Hingabe in der Performance. Es spielen Art Blakey am Schlagzeug, Jymie Merritt am Bass, Lee Morgan an der Trompete, Wayne Shorter am Tenor-Saxophon und Bobby Timmons am Piano. Diese Aufnahme entstammt einer Serie von Wiederveröffentlichungen des legendären Impulse Labels. Das Label Analogue Productions lässt unter der Ägide von Masteringprofi Kevin Gray bei AcoustTech in Kalifornien die analogen Masterbänder neu überarbeiten und veröffentlicht diese als Hybrid-SACD. Die klanglichen Fähigkeiten dieser Überarbeitungen stellen schon auf der der CD-Spur selbst die Original LPs aus den 60ern klar in den Schatten und sind vorherigen Digitalisierungen klar überlegen.

But he also delivered the "message" of hard bop through thousands of performances at festivals right down to the smallest club. Lively, joyous performances, the very highest technical standards and somnambulistic music-making characterize this recording. Right from the very start it is clear that these jazz ambassadors have a new message for us. The hard-beat recordings win in lyricism thanks to the gentle sound of Curtis Fuller's trombone, something that was often missing in the powerful Blue Note sound.
