TOOOO MUCH BASS!!!!
I've now tried it on 4 different systems (tables, amps, carts, speakers, all different) and pretty much all I get is a massive amount of bass. The vocals work well, mostly, but the rhythm guitar work is all but hidden behind the huge wall of bass, that seems mostly to come from the drums, but is really just everywhere. Even a low volume you'd have to live in the middle of nowhere with no neighbours or risk arrest. I think they must have decided on a 'let's just feel the music' remastering. Or maybe it's for people who are damaged or know no better. By comparison, I also just bought Yello's remastered 'Stella', and it is beautifully done. Yes, there's a lot bass in there, but it 'in there' with the rest of the music. Having only read good reviews of Siamese Dream on-line, I can only presume that I'm jut too old to understand, and will be putting my copy away for future generations to deal with. A shame really :-(
