Schade! The wrong way to celebrate 50 years of Boney M.
Sony Music DE has decided to celebrate Boney M's 50th anniversary with this awful realease.
Boney M. surely deserves much better. The people behind this release have no clue about how complex the Boney M. catalogue is.
First of all: No need for all those awful outdated remixes included. Forget everything about Boney M. remixes and let the orignal material speak on its own. The original material wrote pop history and made Boney M. what they are: DISCO GIGANTS.
The music would have gotten 5-stars if the remixes had been left out.
Boney M. was one of the most colourful and photographed groups of the disco area. Yet Sony Music tries to make the group faceless with the most borrowing box and covers you have ever seen. A black, dull and ugly box. No photo of the group. Who approves such a box? The same goes for the covers made for the vinyls. A real disaster. No photos of the group.
The photo Sony Music have decided to use for the release is a "poster" in the box from the Take The Heat Off Me session. They should have gone for the original shot that was used for the Take The Heat Off Me cover in 1976. The one they have used doesn't show Marcia's face in full. A very odd choice.
And when finally using a photo of the group, Sony Music always uses the same photos. Seems as if they only have five photos in their archive.
Someone should get fired at Sony and who on earth at FAR Music has approved this release?
Tasteless..
