Der dreifache Tony Award Gewinner, zweifache Olivier Award Preisträger und Oscar-Gewinner Mark Rylance, sowie Newcomer Ruby Barnhill, Penelope Wilton, Jemaine Clement, Rebecca Hall, Rafe Spall und Bill Hader übernahmen Rollen in »The BFG«. Produziert wurde der Film von Spielberg, Frank Marshall, Sam Mercer, sowie Kathleen Kennedy als Produktionsleiterin.
Der Soundtrack wurde von Oscar-Gewinner John Williams komponiert und beinhaltet 19 Songs.
