Zur Feier des 40-jährigen Jubiläums des Kinofilms „Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back“ erscheint der Original-Film-Soundtrack als Gatefold-Doppel-LP auf 180 g Vinyl. Die von John Willams komponierte und vom London Symphony Orchestra eingespielte Filmmusik wurde aufwendig remastered. Der Film und die Musik zu „Star Wars: Das Imperium schlägt zurück“ wurden mehrfach ausgezeichnet, darunter mit je zwei Academy Awards® und Golden Globe® Awards sowie dem BAFTA für die „Beste Filmmusik“ (1981).
John Williams, einer der erfolgreichsten und bekanntesten Komponisten weltweit, hat in fünf Jahrzehnten für mehr als hundert Filme, darunter alle neun Star Wars-Filme, die Originalmusik komponiert. Williams hat fünf Academy Awards, vier Golden Globe® Awards, sieben British Academy Film Awards, fünf Emmy® Awards und 25 Grammy® Awards gewonnen.
