Als einer der erfolgreichsten Filmkomponisten Hollywoods legte Miklós Rózsa (1907-1995) immer Wert darauf, sich von diesem Metier Auszeiten zu nehmen, in denen er für den klassischen Konzertbetrieb komponierte. Folge 3 der Serie mit Orchesterwerken des Komponisten präsentiert das 1953 für Jascha Heifetz entstandene Violinkonzert Op. 24 sowie 'Thema, Variationen und Finale', eines der erfolgreichsten Werke Rózsas, das nach seiner Uraufführung durch Charles Munch 1934 von Größen wie Bruno Walter und Eugene Ormandy in deren Repertoire aufgenommen wurde. Dank CHANDOS wird hier eine der interessantesten Musikerpersönlichkeiten des 20. Jahrhunderts wiederentdeckt, die zu lange nur als Filmkomponist wahrgenommen wurde.
