Jean Francaix: Streichquartett on CD

Francaix widmete sich allen musikalischen Gattungen, und so nimmt auch die Instrumentalmusik einen großen Raum in seinem Oeuvre ein. Auf vorliegender Einspielung hören wir neben dem unterhaltenden Trio für Oboe, Fagott und Klavier, das Quartett für Englisch Horn und Streicher sowie das klar strukturierte, vergnügliche und sehr virtuose Streichquartett in G mit dem Parisii-Quartett. Stets stellte der Komponist an die Interpreten höchste technische Ansprüche, verzauberte diese aber bei Beherrschung des Handwerks mit seinen Partituren. Ergänzt wird die CD mit dem erfrischend unbekümmerten "L'horloge de Flore" ("7-teilige Blütenuhr") für Oboe und Orchester – Solist ist erneut Lencses, der längst zur internationalen Oboen-Elite gehört.

Françaix & Lajos Lencsés
Out last new release features not only the composer Jean Françaix but also the oboist Lajos Lencsés, who has always lent his support to this French composer. Françaix dedicated himself to all the musical genres, and instrumental music also accounts for a large share of his oeuvre. On the present recording we hear the entertaining Trio for Oboe, Bassoon, and Piano, the Quartet for English Horn and Strings, and the clearly structured, pleasurable, and highly virtuosic String Quartet in G with the Parisii Quartet. The composer always challenged his interpreters with the highest technical demands while conjuring up the same in his scores with the skill of a master musical magician. The CD program is complemented by the refreshingly carefree "L’horloge de Flore" (seven-part floral clock) for oboe and orchestra. Lencsés, who has long belonged to the international oboe elite, is again our soloist.
