Nach der Aufführung von Saxton's ›Psalm: A Song of Ascents‹ entschloss sich Simon Desbruslais weitere konzertante Werke für Trompete bei britischen Komponisten in Auftrag zu geben bzw. in Auftrag geben zu lassen. Das Ergebnis seiner Bemühungen stellen die übrigen auf der CD vertretenen Werke von Deborah Pritchard, John McCabe und Robert Saxton dar, die hier zum ersten Mal auf Tonträger vorgestellt werden.
