The Penguin Cafe Orchestra (Dokumentation mit Simon Jeffes, 1987) Unter der Leitung des Komponisten Simon Jeffes hat dieses Ensemble seit Mitte der 70er Jahre seinen ganz eigenen und eigenwilligen Musikstil entwickelt, der klassische- und Avantgarde-Musik genauso einbezieht wie Pop, Folk oder Ethno-Sound. Die Instrumente der Mitwirkenden reichen von Klavier, Cello, Geige und Schlagzeug über Ukulele, E-Gitarre bis hin zur Blechflöte. Die auf dieser DVD enthaltene Studioaufnahme einer Aufführung des PCO wird durch Interviews über den originellen und umfassenden Stil des Ensembles zu einem spannenden und informativen Erlebnis. Still Life at the Penguin Café (Ballett, 1989) Die eigenwillige Musik und die imaginäre Welt des Simon Jeffes, dem Gründer des Penguin Café Orchestras, veranlassten David Bintley dieses Ballett zu kreieren. Es spielt in einem Café, in dem Menschen Pinguinen und Pinguine Menschen gleichen. Ein überschäumendes Kabarett wird von einer Reihe von exotischen Kreaturen präsentiert. Die einfallsreiche und amüsante Choreografie, die von Hayden Griffins Bühnenbild und Kostümen und dem Ensemble des Royal Ballet kongenial umgesetzt wird, behandelt auch die Notlage von gefährdeten Tierarten auf unserem Planeten.
