Diese Weihnachtskantate mit einem eigens von Bonds’ Freund Langston Hughes verfassten Libretto handelt von Balthasar, dem dunkelhäutigen König, der nach Bethlehem reiste, um der Geburt Jesu Christi beizuwohnen.
Die wunderschöne Interpretation stammt von den in New York beheimateten The Dessoff Choirs and Orchestra, den herausragenden Solisten – der Sopranistin Laquita Mitchell, der Mezzosopranistin Lucia Bradford und dem Tenor Noah Stewart – unter der Leitung ihres charismatischen Dirigenten Malcolm J. Merriweather. Bonds-Expertin Dr. Ashley Jackson steuert die inspirierten Liner Notes bei.
