In seinen Anfangsjahren als Komponist galt Alexandre Tansman als musikalisches Genie, als einer, der von der Presse seiner Zeit als legitimer Nachfolger des großen Strawinsky in Stellung gebracht wurde.

Dann brach die Katastrophe des Zweiten Weltkriegs über Europa herein. Der Jude Tansman musste in die USA emigrieren. Dort gehörte er zu Strawinskys engerem Freundeskreis.

Heute sind Tansmans Kompositionen leider fast vergessen. Doch dieses Album stellt die Weltersteinspielung seiner Violinromanze sowie seiner Violinsonatinen und -sonaten vor.
