Bernard Haitink wird meistens für seine Beethoven- und Mahler-Aufnahmen als Referenzdirigent in Stellung gebracht. Dabei wird aber übersehen, dass er ein Werk enorm häufig dirigierte und auch diskografisch sehr erfolgreiche Ergebnisse erzielte. Dieses Werk war Berlioz' "Symphonie Fantastique", die auf dieser Blu-ray in einem sehr guten Mitschnitt aus Haitinks Zeit als Chefdirigent des Concertgebouw Orchestra Amsterdam vorliegt. Wunderbar!
