Schwerwiegender Verlust
Mit gerade einmal 26 Jahren verstarb Pelham Humfrey, der zu diesem Zeitpunkt bereits Mitglied der Chapel Royal, einen Studienaufenthalt bei Lully absolviert hatte und als Master of the Children den jungen Henry Purcell unterrichtete. Hört man seine meisterhaften hier eingespielten Symphony Anthems, dann wird klar, dass Purcells früher Tod nicht der einzige schwerwiegende musikalische Verlust Englands im 17. Jahrhundert gewesen ist.
