Sir Richard Rodney Bennett (1936-2012) ist Musikfreunden hierzulande hauptsächlich als Filmmusikschaffender ein Begriff (u. a. für Vier Hochzeiten und ein Todesfall), doch schrieb der vielseitige, äußerst wandlungsfähige Künstler auch Jazz und Werke für den Konzertsaal.

All dies macht ihn zu einem der bemerkenswertesten britischen Komponisten der Nachkriegszeit.

In der dritten Folge der Serie mit Orchesterwerken auf CHANDOS werden Kompositionen aus unterschiedlichen Schaffensperioden Bennetts vorgestellt, deren Entstehung entweder mit einem einschneidenden Erlebnis in seinem Leben verknüpft ist oder die durch persönliche Beziehungen zustande kamen.
