Der Komponist Olivier Calmel legt mit „Les improbables“ ein Kammermusik-Album vor, das mit ungewöhnlichen Besetzungen besticht. Unter anderem sind eine 13-saitige Koto und eine Glasharmonika zu hören. Calmel schöpft aus einer Vielzahl von Einflüssen aus Literatur und bildender Kunst. Seine musikalischen Vorbilder reichen von der traditionellen Musik des Mittelmeers und des Balkans bis zu den Kantaten von Bach, von John Adams bis zu Keith Jarrett. Seine Interpreten ermutigt er, Elemente der improvisierten Musik einzusetzen.
