In seiner Vielseitigkeit und Geschmeidigkeit der Ausdruckskraft ist das Saxophon der menschlichen Stimme am nächsten: so beweist es das vorliegende Album, welches der NDR Chor gemeinsam mit dem Raschèr Saxophone Quartet aufgenommen hat. nine(birds)here vereint neben mehreren A-cappella-Stücken Werke für Chor und Saxophon, allesamt Erstveröffentlichungen, der Komponisten Ian Wilson und Ivan Moody. Beide 1964 geboren, komponieren sie stilistisch in sehr unterschiedlicher Weise. Während Wilson sich in seinem Schaffen vor allem durch die Musik und die Kunst der Moderne inspirieren ließ, sind Moodys Werke durch seine Zugehörigkeit zur orthodoxen Kirche und die Vorliebe für religiöse, mystische Themen geprägt.
