Die bisherigen BIS-Veröffentlichungen von Werken Pickards hatten vorwiegend Instrumentalmusik zum Thema. Dieses Album präsentiert den britischen Komponisten nun von einer anderen Seite mit einer Auswahl von Chorwerken. Darunter finden sich Gelegenheitswerke wie die »Ozymandias« aus seiner Studienzeit wie auch sehr ambitionierte Werke wie die »Mass in troubled times«, die für die berühmten BBC Singers geschrieben wurden. Die Messe entstand in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Dichter Gavin D'Costa, der einen komplexen Text schrieb, basierend auf vielfältigen Quellen in fünf Sprachen. Er kombiniert westliche und nahöstliche geistliche Texte mit Dichtungen, die sich mit der Situation von Flüchtlingen auseinandersetzen.
