Die Faszination des schwedischen Komponisten Martin Skafte (geb. 1980) für die 24 Préludes von Claude Debussy inspirierte Skafte selbst zu 24 Préludes mit gelegentlichen schrägen Verweisen auf Debussys Originale, aber mit Skafes eigener musikalischer Sprache.
Wie Debussy schöpft Skafte die Farben und Klangfarben des Klaviers aus, verlangt aber auch Liszt'sche Virtuosität und bezieht eine Reihe weiterer Einflüsse ein, darunter Ragtime und Ligeti - und oft ist im Hintergrund ein schlauer Sinn für Humor zu erkennen.
