Orchesterwerke Vol.2
The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

In der zweiten Folge der CHANDOS-Reihe mit dem gesamten Orchesterwerk von Leoš Janácek stellen Edward Gardner und das Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra neben der bekannten Orchester-Rhapsodie ›Taras Bulba‹ auch einige sonst eher selten zu hörende Kompositionen vor. Von besonderem Interesse sind dabei das Violinkonzert (1926) sowie die Sinfonie mit Solosopran ›Dunaj‹ (1923-1928). Beide Stücke blieben leider Fragment und wurden daher anhand von Skizzen des Komponisten posthum ergänzt. Für die beiden Werke konnten mit dem Geiger James Ehnes und der Sopranistin Susanna Andersson zwei herausragende Solisten gewonnen.
