Telemann - übrigens Vater, Sohn und Patenonkel - wurden nur zwei eigens für die Oboe komponiert, nämlich die g-Moll-Sonate von C. P.E. Bach und die a-Moll-Sonate von Telemann. Aber auch die anderen Werke eignen sich in Bezug auf Farbe, Tonumfang und Textur für die von den Interpreten gewählten Instrumentalkombinationen.
