Gleich nach der Wiener Uraufführung 1798 begann der Siegeszug von Haydns Oratorium Die Schöpfung. Das Werk überquerte in der englischen Übersetzung auch den Atlantik und erlebte 1819 seine amerikanische Premiere durch die Bostoner »Handel & Haydn Society«. Diese feiert in diesem Jahr ihr zweihundertjähriges Bestehen. Da liegt es nahe, das Jubiläum auch mit einer Einspielung eines ihrer ältesten Repertoirestücke zu feiern. Seit 2008 ist Harry Christophers künstlerischer Leiter der Society und legt hier einen Live-Mitschnitt nach den Jubiläums-Konzerten vor, die von der Kritik schlicht als brillant gefeiert wurden.
