The SACD uses a higher digital resolution than the audio CD and also offers the possibility to store multi-channel sound (surround sound). To enjoy the music in high-end quality, a special SACD player is required. Thanks to the hybrid function, most of the products marked "SACD" in our store can also be played on conventional CD players. In this case, however, the sound does not differ from that of a normal CD. In case of deviations, we point this out separately (non-hybrid).

Die »Aria mit verschiedenen Variationen« ist einer der Meilensteine europäischer Musikgeschichte, und das aus gutem Grund: das riesige Werk und seine komplexe, systematische Struktur zeigen mit unübertroffener Klarheit Bachs ungeheure kompositorische Kraft. Zahllose Bücher und Traktate widmen sich der Frage nach seiner Konstruktion, die sowohl Musikwissenschaftler wie Mathematiker verblüfft.
Aber, wie der dänische Akkordeonist Andreas Borregaard sagt, »die Goldbergvariationen sind so viel mehr als nur ein gigantisches, klingendes Sudoku. Jede Variation ist ein expressives Universum für sich selbst, und die Musik durchläuft so gut wie jeden Winkel menschlicher Gefühle.« Im Original ist das Werk für das Cembalo geschrieben, wurde aber auch fester Bestandteil des Klavierrepertoires.
Doch die Emotionen, die Borregaards Spiel hervorruft, sind vielleicht überhaupt nur bei einer Wiedergabe auf dem Akkordeon denkbar. Besitzer eines SACD-Players können die 90 Minuten ohne Unterbrechung hören, während die CD-Hörer zwischendurch wechseln müssen.
