Goldberg-Variationen BWV 988
The Blu-Ray was developed as a high-definition successor to the DVD and offers a significantly increased data rate and storage capacity compared to its predecessor. Blu-Rays can therefore store movies with significantly better resolution and offer enormously high picture quality on corresponding screens. Blu-Ray players are usually backward compatible with DVDs, so that they can also be played.

Kit Armstrongs erster Konzertmitschnitt auf DVD und Blu-ray
Kit Armstrong ist der einzige Pianist, von dem Alfred Brendel autorisiert hat, dass man ihn als seinen Schüler bezeichnen darf. Niemand hat enger und länger mit Brendel zusammengearbeitet. Armstrong ist bereits im Alter von 13 Jahren von Brendel als Schüler angenommen worden, der ihn als »die größte musikalische Begabung, der ich je begegnet bin« bezeichnet hat.
Doch Armstrong ist inzwischen längst seinem Ruf als Meisterschüler entwachsen und führt seit 2013 selbst ein aktives und erfolgreiches Konzertleben.
Mit einem aufsehenerregenden Live-Mitschnitt aus dem Concertgebouw Amsterdam erscheint nun Armstrongs erste Konzert-DVD/Blu-ray, und die ist einfach atemberaubend: Nicht nur spielt Armstrong die kompletten Goldberg-Variationen, sondern er stellt sie zudem noch in einen Kontext zu anderer polyphoner Musik der Bach-und Vor-Bach-Zeit von Komponisten wie Byrd, Sweelinck und Bull.
