Zwei Gitarren, eine Seele

Die Antwort bietet das neue Album von Thibaut Garcia und Antoine Morinière. In einer effektvoll funkelnden Bearbeitung haben die beiden französischen Gitarristen die 1741 erschienenen Goldberg-Variationen adaptiert – und verbinden auf ihren Instrumenten die besten Elemente aus moderner und historisch informierter Klangauffassung: ein großer Wurf, inspiriert von meisterhaften Interpretationen der Vergangenheit und dennoch mit völlig neuer Perspektive auf einen weltbekannten Zyklus, über den viele alles zu wissen glaubten.

»Barockmusik für Tasteninstrumente hat uns schon immer gereizt«, sagt Thibaut Garcia, der bereits 2018 auf seinem Erato-Album Bach Inspirations mit Musik des Ausnahmekomponisten bei Publikum und Medien Aufmerksamkeit erregte und seit über einem Jahrzehnt mit seinem Kollegen Antoine Morinière zusammenspielt. Durch ihr technisches und musikalisches Können stehen nicht nur die Musiker selbst, sondern auch ihre Gitarren in einer besonders engen Verbindung, denn beide wurden aus dem Holz eines einzigen Baumes gefertigt: Zwillinge, deren Klang, Farbreichtum und Kraft so vollendet miteinander harmonisieren, als handelte es sich um ein einziges Instrument. »Die zwei Gitarren können die beiden Hände eines Tastenspielers darstellen, die aufeinander reagieren und sich miteinander verflechten, gleichzeitig unabhängig und komplementär«, lautet das Fazit der Interpreten, deren zehnjährige Beschäftigung mit den Goldberg-Variationen durch dieses inspirierende Album beeindruckend dokumentiert wird.
