Marin Marais und Antoine Forqueray sind die beiden wichtigsten Vertreter der französischen Gambenmusik, wobei – nach Aussage des Zeitgenossen Hubert Le Blanc – ersterer wie ein Engel und letzterer wie der Teufel gespielt haben soll. Höllisch schwer sind tatsächlich viele der Stücke, die dessen Sohn Jean-Baptiste Forqueray 1747, zwei Jahre nach dem Tod seines Vaters, veröffentlichte. Sie sind eine letzte große Hommage an ein Instrument, das zu dieser Zeit seine unangefochtene Vormachtstellung an das Violoncello abtreten musste. GLOSSA bringt mit der Gesamteinspielung der Gambenstücke Forquerays jene Aufnahme wieder auf den Markt, welche die erfolgreiche Zusammenarbeit Paolo Pandolfos mit dem Label begründete.
