In Großbritannien hat wohl jeder schon einmal Musik von Eric Coates gehört, denn einige seiner Kompositionen wurden als beliebte Erkennungsmelodien britischer Rundfunk- und Fernsehsendungen verwendet, die zum Teil heute noch Verwendung finden. John Wilson nutzt auch die vierte Folge der Coates gewidmeten Reihe bei CHANDOS zu einem überzeugenden Plädoyer für die Musik des Komponisten.
