Nie wurde die Aufforderung des großen George Balanchine besser umgesetzt als in Dance der amerikanischen Tänzerin und Choreografin Lucinda Childs, die zu einer eigens in Auftrag gegebenen Partitur von Philip Glass geschaffen wurde und von einem Video des bildenden Künstlers Sol LeWitt eingerahmt wird. Ein Werk von kompromissloser Reinheit, dessen Choreografie akribisch jeder subtilen Nuance und jedem wechselnden Muster der Partitur folgt, so dass man die Musik sehen kann, wobei die beiden Sinne Sehen und Hören, vollständig verschmelzen.
