Charles Ives ist wohl der humorvollste und geistreichste amerikanische Komponist des 20. Jahrhunderts, einer der einflussreichsten ohnehin. Doch bei allem Witz und Charme sind seine Werke eine technische Mammutaufgabe. Diese ungemeinen Schwierigkeiten sind für Jean-Efflam Bavouzet und dem Melbourne Symphony Orchestra unter der Leitung von Sir Andrew Davis offensichtlich kein Problem. In der dritten Auflage der Ives-Reihe überzeugen sie erneut mit hoher Virtuosität und grandioser Musikalität.
