In den Siebzigerjahren nahm Pierre Boulez mit dem New York Philharmonic für CBS einen umfangreichen Ravel-Zyklus auf. Vol. 2 & 3 erscheinen nun wieder auf Super Audio. Über die darauf zu hörenden Orchesterbearbeitungen eigener Klavierwerke sagte Ravels enger Freund Roland-Manuel: „Diese Metamorphose von Klavierstücken in sinfonische Werke war für Ravel ein Spiel. Ein Spiel, das er bis zur Perfektion spielte, so dass die Transkription den Charme des Originals übertraf. Diese Fähigkeit erreichte ihren Höhepunkt in ‚Le Tombeau de Couperin‘. Diese Transkription erzeugt einen Effekt, der geradezu mozartisch ist.“
