Es war die Idee von Antje Weithaas, die jeweils sechs Solosonaten, bzw. -partiten von Johann Sebastian Bach und Eugène Ysaÿe gemeinsam einzuspielen. »Die Bachwerke sind einigermaßen bekannt«, sagt sie. »Aber die von Ysaÿe? Er wird immer in die Virtuosen-Ecke gestellt, aber er ist ein ernstzunehmender Komponist!« Im zweiten Album ihrer Trilogie beschreitet Antje Weithaas einen Weg vom Dunkel ins Helle. Bachs a-moll-Sonate ist eine Passion ohne Worte, es folgt die dramatische dritte Violinsonate von Ysaÿe. Der erste Satz von Ysaÿes fünfter Sonate lautet »L’aurore« (»Sonnenaufgang«), und das Programm endet mit Bachs dritter Partita, einer klaren, positiven musikalischen Aussage in E-Dur.
